Community strength and partnerships go hand-in-hand. The Grimes King Foundation is proud to work with the following organizations–and continues to seek other strategic relationships–because the need is so great.
The Boston Women’s Fund has been one of our partners since 2021. Their grants support and reinforce our efforts to engage female-led, community-based organizations providing innovative programs for elderly Black women.
Cedar Grove Cemetery Project
We partnered with the Cedar Grove Cemetery Project in 2022 to recognize the 133 former residents of the Home for Aged Colored Women, buried in a mass, unmarked grave between 1861 and 1900.
In 2022, our esteemed Board member,Thelma Burns, received the Myra Kraft Community MVP grand prize Award, honoring her lifetime of volunteer services. This award enabled the Grimes King Foundation to fund grass-roots, community-based, organizations providing direct services to our constituents.
We have been partnering with New England Black in Philanthropy since 2020 and participated with them in giving testimony to legislators on the Crown Act, which became law.
